BA02561FAC05 Gay-Lussac et Biot Frameable Art Card
Adapted from Card 5 of a proof sheet of 10 illustrated collector cards depicting events in ballooning history from 1795 to 1846. This one shows the scientists J.B. Biot and Joseph Louis Gay-Lussac carrying out altitude experiments, reaching the altitude of almost 4,000 metres (3,962 metres or 13,000 feet) in their flight from the Conservatoire des Arts et Métiers in Paris on August 24, 1804. Later the same year in a solo balloon flight, Gay-Lussac ascended to 7,010 metres (23,000 feet), establishing an altitude record that was to last for 50 years.

Lovely quality cards. Nice to get a real traditional Chrismassy theme in Australia, not the beach and Australian animals stuff. Excellent, would use again
