Adapted from an anonymous graphite engraving showing Jacques Alexander César Charles and Nicolas-Luis Robert standing in their hydrogen-filled “globe” balloon waving flags as they begin their ascent from the Tuileries Gardens in Paris on December 1, 1783. The Palace of Versailles serves as a dramatic background for this historic event. In the foreground thousands of spectators gather to witness the first manned gas balloon flight. This was exactly what was wanted for my piano crazy grandson! He is self taught & is now having lessons by a top teacher and has been asked to play at various venues in the US!
