The design for this item is based on the national flag of the Republic of Austria, a landlocked East Alpine country in the southern part of Central Europe. The Austrian flag with its three distinctive bands of red and white is based on the coat of arms of the Babenberg dynasty. According to legend, the flag was invented by Duke Leopold V of Austria as a result of his fighting in the Siege of Acre. After a ferocious battle, his white overcoat was completely covered in blood. When he removed his belt, the cloth beneath remained unstained, revealing the combination of red-white-red. He was so impressed by this powerful sight that he adopted the colors and scheme as his banner. The capital and largest city of Austria is Vienna.
