This clock is designed around an image of an antique astrolabe used by ancient seafarers to navigate around the globe using the positions of stars, planets and constellations. The astrolabe was invented by the Greek astronomer, geographer, and mathematician Hipparchus of Nicaea (190 BC-120 BC). As well as measuring time and space by the stars, this amazing instruments also makes a fine clock face!
