Liber de Arte Distillandi, printed in Strasbourg (1512), os a practical laboratory manual on chemical, alchemical, and distillation devices. New tools of the trade were developed by glass blowers in Venice and Murano, and ceramic artists in mediaeval Europe, including the alembic or ambix, the cucurbit and retort for distillation.
