Boy are those Armenian women tough! "Woman of Sasun" (Sasuntsi Kin) depicts a woman breastfeeding her baby as she watches over a mountain pass from her sniper's perch. Painted by Arshak Fetvadjian following World War One as an allegory of the newly independent Armenia, the child represents the nation, and the mother the people who will both defend and nurture the infant republic. For this reason, the painting is also known as "The Infant Armenia." Choose your print with or without the title and artist's name, available in English or Armenian!

I hung this in the stairwell of our house, near some other Renoir pictures. My daughter says it looks like she is looking at her when she walks up the stairs.
it's called "The Excursionist", she is holding a walking stick. Renoir was an impressionist, I don't think this is an actual person. The finished framed picture arrived and looks better than the online pic - Beautiful!
