Arnica chamissonis is one of two species of Arnica found on Unalaska Island, which is a part of the Aleutian Island chain. Arnica has a yellow flower similar to a daisy in appearance. Arnica chamissonis is a member of the Aster family, Asteraceae, or Compositae family. Arnica is one of the wildflowers which favours southern Alaska, and its region extends into the eastern Aleutian Islands. Arnica is a medicinal plant used in ointments to soothe sore muscles and bruises.
