Arctic Starflower, Trientalis europaea Postcard

The arctic starflower (Trientalis europaea) is a member of the primrose family. It blooms in late May and early June on Unalaska Island. The starflower is a tiny plant, growing only a few inches tall, and the flowers are less than an inch in diameter. Usually the starflower produces six petals, but sometimes its flowers have seven or eight petals. The blossoms are always white with a slight tinge of pink.
