Vintage illustration antique world map detail by artist Martin Waldseemüller ( c. 1470-1520); a German cartographer. He and Matthias Ringmann are credited with the first recorded usage of the word America, on the 1507 map Universalis Cosmographia in honor of the Florentine explorer Amerigo Vespucci. This antique map detail from 1507 features Claudius Ptolemy, the wind blowing from the west, several continents (Africa, Asia and Europe) and blue oceans and seas.

I was extremely happy to find a tree ornament for my Occupational Therapist daughter. (I bought one a few years ago for my Paramedic son) & prior to seeing this I was trying to work out how I could create something similar for her.
