Antique Oriental Soumak Embroidery Design Decorative Cushion

This antique Soumak tribal pattern includes motifs used on kilims, such as the eye, cross, and hook symbols. These motifs are said to ward off the evil eye and the handsome central diamond-shaped medallion represents the dragon. Techniques used to create these tapestry-type rugs are similar to embroidery. The original carpet is approximately 140 years old and the main colours include wonderful shades of blues, pinks and beige.
