In the 1930's there were Sunkist ornages with a face at 3/4ths view. But the as we know it was created by Harvey Ball. He was a freelance artist and was commissioned by State Mutual Life insurance to create something to boost moral. His total payment for the 10 minutes of work was 45 dollars. In 1970 the brothers Bernard and Murray Spain added the phrase "Have a nice day" and popularised it. From there it lifted off into the craze it is today. There are various for various moods. I originally ordered 1 tie to test and ensure I liked it with the suits we had ordered! The tie came and it was perfect! We loved it! The colours were bright and the tie was beautifully made. I then ordered the 6 additional ties and the colours are slightly different. The 6 ties were a little less vibrant and the white background was slightly different! .
