When Leonard Cohen played Glastonbury in 2008, one of the finest moments was when he thanked the crowd of 50,000 people who flocked to the Pyramid Stage as the sun set that Sunday evening. Appearing humbled by such an adoring throng, Cohen called them "angels born of the mud".
