American Flag Flying at Half Mast Card

This design features an original photograph showing the flag of the United States of America flying at half-mast. Flying a flag at half-mast is traditionally seen as a symbol of respect, mourning or commemoration. The US flag consists of thirteen equal horizontal stripes of red alternating with white, with a blue rectangle in the canton bearing fifty small, white, five-pointed stars arranged in nine offset horizontal rows; rows of six stars (starting at the top and bottom) alternate with rows of five stars. The 50 stars on the flag represent the 50 states of the United States of America, whereas the 13 stripes represent the thirteen British colonies that declared independence from the Kingdom of Great Britain, becoming the first states in the USA. The flag of the United States of America is sometimes known as the Star-Spangled Banner, Old Glory or the Stars and Stripes.
