Always Believe In Yourself

Adhering to the saying “Every picture tells a story…” I have a short one to accompany this piece. Sometime ago I spent the day at several of our area lakes collecting material for my art projects. This little black and yellow bird seemed almost anxious for his image to be captured for my future work. It seemed he was following me as I made my walk around the lake. I’d already taken half-a-dozen of photos of him, but from what HE decided was a safe distance. Halfway around the lake I realised that with every flutter, he came closer and closer to me. “Finally” I thought. Equipped with only my 30mm lense I captured another dozen or so photos of this little critter. When I settled in to work on this piece this week, I suddenly realised that the branch this colourful bird was sitting on for my final shots, was nearly broken off of the tree. Immediately a quote came to mind which leads to the title. “A birds sitting on a tree is never afraid of the branch breaking because her trust is not on the branch but on its own wings . Always believing yourself.” It has been at least four years since I took that walk around the lake. I am beginning to believe.
