Alphonse Mucha Autumn poster. Oil on canvas from 1896. Czech artist Alphonse Mucha frequently did allegorical work depicting seasons. This particular version of Autumn is from a series painted in 1896 and feautures a beautiful young woman with dark red hair adorned with white chrysanthemums. She wears a thin blue dress and stand in a vineyard. In her left hand she holds a porcelain dish, and in her right she squeezes a fresh bunch of purple grapes still on the vine. I hung this in the stairwell of our house, near some other Renoir pictures. My daughter says it looks like she is looking at her when she walks up the stairs. it's called "The Excursionist", she is holding a walking stick. Renoir was an impressionist, I don't think this is an actual person. The finished framed picture arrived and looks better than the online pic - Beautiful!
