Alfred Sisley - The Meadow Magnet
The Meadow (La Prairie), painted by Alfred Sisley in 1875, shows a meadow enclosed by a wooden fence, with long grasses, wildflowers and small figures set against rolling hills beneath a cloud-filled sky. The loose brushwork and open countryside make weather and light central to the Impressionist landscape. This oil on canvas is held by the National Gallery of Art in Washington.
