Aleut Relocation Memorial Statue, Unalaska Island Postcard
This memorial statue was created to commemorate the return of the Aleut people, known to themselves as the Unangan people, from their exile. During WWII, Dutch Harbour, Alaska was used as the base of operations for the Campaign of the Aleutians. It was decided that the Alaskan Natives should be removed to relocation camps in southeast Alaska for the duration of the war . The way in which the Unangan people were treated during their exile is a shameful part of Alaskan and American history. This historical memorial statue carries a warning to maintain constant vigilence over government, lest it become an instrument of tyranny.

I love this postcard. I am a big fan of the Peanuts gang. This is a great postcard for the Fourth of July.

The card quality is great and made of thick material. The nice color and printing on this card is excellent! Great design for a sympathy card.
