Alamo San Antonio Texas Travel Postcard

Alamo San Antonio Texas Travel Postcard

The Alamo, located in downtown San Antonio, Texas, is one of the most iconic historic sites in the United States and a symbol of Texas independence. Originally founded in the 18th century as Mission San Antonio de Valero, it was established by Spanish missionaries to convert local Indigenous peoples to Christianity. By the early 1800s, the mission had been secularised and later transformed into a military outpost. Its most famous moment came in 1836 during the Texas Revolution, when a small group of Texian defenders—including figures like James Bowie, William B. Travis, and Davy Crockett—held the Alamo against a much larger Mexican army led by General Santa Anna. After a 13-day siege, the defenders were overrun, and their sacrifice became a rallying cry: “Remember the Alamo!” Today, the Alamo is preserved as a museum and historic site, drawing millions of visitors each year. The complex includes the iconic limestone church façade, interpretive exhibits on the Texas Revolution, and artefacts from the battle. Visitors can also explore the Alamo Gardens and surrounding historic plaza, which create a reflective space in the middle of bustling San Antonio. As both a place of remembrance and a cultural landmark, the Alamo represents resilience, sacrifice, and the enduring spirit of Texas.

Way better quality than I ever expected. I love the colours, font and quality of the card. I'm so pleased I found Zazzle as it is near impossible to purchase Vintage or Retro Australian memorabilia online. I chose this design when I purchased them. They are perfect for my projects. I was very specific about what I wanted. I know where to come now when I need to order similar items.

Perfect for the occasion I was using it for. I was able to delete the lines so I could put in more wording. Had an envelope so the address side wasn't necessary. Print quality and paper quality lovely.
