Ah Chee Lo (Native American Girl) Jigsaw Puzzle

Look at her luminous eyes! And she has such a serious face. Photographer Edward S. Curtis created this wonderful portrait around the year 1905. It is regrettable that he did not indicate Ah Chee Lo’s tribal affiliation. Ah Chee Lo was probably a Taos Indian, member the pueblo tribe in New Mexico. According to Taos Indian legend, an eagle led their ancestors to the Taos Valley. Archaeologists say these ancestors lived in this valley long before Columbus discovered America and hundreds of years before Europe emerged from the Dark Ages. Ancient ruins in the Taos Valley indicate their people lived there nearly 1,000 years ago.
