Agnes of Merania was, in theory, the third wife of King Philip II of France. Except Philip was technically married to Ingeborg of Denmark. He tried to divorce her, and when the Pope refused, simply married Agnes anyway. Depending on your point of view, she was either a royal wife, or a royal mistress.
They had several children together, but when Philip needed an alliance with Ingeborg's family he dumped Agnes like a sack of spuds. She reportedly died of a broken heart.
