This beautiful map of Africa was published in July 1960 by National Geographic with three articles, including "Africa: The Winds of Freedom Stir a Continent." In the 1960s, Africa faced many changes and struggled with many countries to gain its independence.
The map shows the boundaries as they existed in July 1960. Numerous place names, railway lines, airports, roads and many other details are also drawn. Also geographic features such as mountains, deserts, rivers, lakes are shown on the map.
Map insertions show islands such as the Cape Verde Islands, Mauritius, La Reunion, Madeira, the Canary Islands, the Azores or the Seychelles and the Great Rift Valley.

I hung this in the stairwell of our house, near some other Renoir pictures. My daughter says it looks like she is looking at her when she walks up the stairs.
it's called "The Excursionist", she is holding a walking stick. Renoir was an impressionist, I don't think this is an actual person. The finished framed picture arrived and looks better than the online pic - Beautiful!
