Abstract Painting Card

The inspiration for this piece is the Royal Shakespeare Company's production of "A Midsummer Night's Dream". I've seen this movie more than any other movie. Interestingly, I discovered it on Netflix during summer of 2016 shortly after seeing a local production of the play. I was up late because I worked third shift at the time. I loved the set designs. Some of the scenes are kind of minimalist, with bare bulbs illuminating a mostly blank, dark background. I wanted to capture that luminosity. The blues are meant to signify the water that the umbrella is floating on in the cover art. My mother in law fell in love with my acrylic painting, so I designed it into this greeting card. She says the lights remind her of Japanese lanterns. What do you think?
