Invitations should be directed to your people six to eight weeks in advance of your marriage. Invitations for destination weddings should be sent to your guests three months in advance of your nuptials. The common rule of thumb is to send invitations 8 to 12 weeks beforehand (2 to 3 months out). You can fix a date on the card for guests to RSVP by so that you can get a headcount, but organise for some guests to go pear-shaped and not meet that deadline.
