The 27th is an infantry brigade of the New York Army National Guard. Originally the 27th Infantry Division until 1967-68 the division was reduced to become a brigade. The 27th has seen action in the Iraq War & the War in Afghanistan. The Brigade is an active part of Operation Noble Eagle - (Operations related to homeland security and support to federal, state, and local agencies. The operation began September 14, 2001, in response to the September 11 attacks).
