23rd Infantry Division Hoodie
The 23rd Infantry Division, more commonly known as the "Americal Division". was activated May 27, 1942 on the island of New Caledonia. This division was the only division formed outside of United States territory during World War II. The 23rd fought in the Battles of Guadalcanal, The Solomon Islands, & The Battle of Leyte. During the Vietnam War the division fought in the Tet Offensive, The Battle of Nui Hoac Ridge (Hill 352), & The Battle of LoGiang. In November 1971 the 23rd Division was inactivated shortly after leaving Vietnam.
