2011 CowGirl Calendar

My yearly labour of love is to put together a calendar of the highland cows that live on our farm. Sadly, my closest bovine friend, Belinda, died a short while ago. She was a counsellor and consoler in her bovine way. But I am not so sad, it was her time. Now, on my morning walks, the dogs and I pause at her burial site. How soothing it is to conjure her up. She appears in my mind just as I would see her in life scenes but in this sort of shimmering light like she's become a cow goddess in some alternate universe.
