The 1st Regiment of Cuirassiers, also known as the 1er Régiment de Cuirassiers in French, was one of the premier cavalry regiments in Napoleon Bonaparte's Grande Armée during the Napoleonic Wars. Established in 1805, the regiment gained a reputation for its exceptional prowess on the battlefield and its distinctive cuirasses, which were the breastplates worn by the troopers, giving them their name.
