The 1st Infantry Division is the oldest division in the army, It has seen continuous service since its organisation in 1917. Part of Army Forces Command. "The Big Red One" has seen action in World War I, World War II including the Invasion of North Africa, Operation Overlord - Battle of Normandy, Battle of the Bulge, Occupation of Germany, 1st Infantry Division troops secured the Nuremberg War Crimes Trials and later transported seven convicted German war criminals to Spandau Prison in Berlin. Vietnam, Persian Gulf War, Iraq War & Afghanistan War. The 1st is currently based at Fort Riley, Kansas.
