Our Lady of the Rosary with Christ Child Jigsaw Puzzle

Our Lady of the Rosary with Christ Child Jigsaw Puzzle

Our colourful jigsaw puzzle features the Blessed Virgin Mary (BVM) seated on a throne under a yellow-orange banner of honour festooned with roses against an aqua-blue sky. Seated on her lap is the Christ Child holding up a rosary. (How many mothers in the 1950s handed their fussy young children rosary beads to occupy them during Mass? Some still do.) Mary wears a white veil, a green robe, and a purple mantle lined in red; the Christ Child, a pink robe. Both figures have bright yellow haloes. Not to make too much of it, because the correlation is imperfect, but Saints_Aplenty chose this image for its Pray the Rosary COLLECTION because it uses most of the colours in the visible spectrum. Until 2002 when Pope St. John Paul II added the Luminous Mysteries, the fifteen-decade rosary with its Joyful, Sorrowful, and Glorious Mysteries was associated with the colours white, red, and yellow, respectively. Since 2002, the modern colour scheme consists of oranges and golds, yellows and whites, purples and burgundies, and shades of blue for the Joyful, Luminous, Sorrowful, and Glorious Mysteries, respectively. + Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary: October 7 + Image Credit (CP 002): Antique image of Our Lady of the Rosary, from an oleograph originally published by Carl Poellath, Schrobenhausen, Bavaria, Germany, late 19th century, from the designer’s private collection of religious ephemera. The caption beneath the original image reads: “O Maria voll der Gnaden, gepriesen sei dein Name ohne End!”, that is, “O Mary full of grace, praise be your name without end!” + An oleograph is a special kind of chromolithograph that has a shiny surface meant to resemble an oil painting.

I was a bit disappointed to find that for the price the puzzle was only a small 252 pieces ..... but ....... it is so intricate that if it was bigger I would be frazzled by now bought as a special Christmas jigsaw for work colleagues to play with in our breaks - it is a great way to get the team to collaborate on something fun, and to start conversations between folk, and a great positive opportunity to provide compliments on the effort put in and progress being made the puzzle itself is beautifully made - each piece feels lovely (not a cheap cardboard puzzle) and the shapes are all similar but different Still a work in progress after a week - it's great!!!! a truly lovely thing ... it will come out each year - both at work and at home. great image, and fantastic finish on the pieces
