“1932 Folies Bergère poster print mug” Coffee Mug
Hard to believe this utterly maaahvelous image of the gals at the Folies Bergère dates to 1932. When it first came into my possession, I thought it was from around 1960. But 1932 is the date that originally appeared in the lower right of the image, with the name of the artist, who turns out not to have been Erté. Another surprise. I painted over signature and date since they really don’t add much to the image. What remains in terms of text is ‘Nuits de Folies’ at the upper left. (Upper right in the reverse view) Note that the scene appears on both sides of the mug, in mirror image. A totally fantastic something on all kinds of EVERYTHING, including mugs. Wanna see more old? The quality of these larger mugs is very good. I have been putting mine through the dishwasher all the time and it shows no signs of fading or dulling. Ergonomically these are lovely to hold and have fast become my favourite mug for a big cup of tea or coffee.
Totally recommend getting the tea infuser with the mug especially if you like using loose leaf tea, which always tastes better from my experience and is better for the environment. Printing was good, bright and most importantly accurately matches the colouring shown on the website.
