"1917 on wheels French Animal Hospital" Magnet
French Army Veterinary Corps in the First World War. This Corps was responsible for the medical care of animals used by the army; predominantly horses, mules and pigeons. From 1796, veterinary surgeons were commissioned into cavalry regiments to care for the British Army's horses and mules. Their work had previously been carried out by contracted farriers.
