1897 KLONDIKE GOLD RUSH POSTER

Based upon the Heart of the Klondike lithograph produced around 1897 by the Strobridge Company. With the gold rush in the Yukon and Klondike regions of Alaska and Canada, it generated much interest in Victorian America. The Chilkoot Pass was a notorious route to the gold fields. Each man had to hand carry one thousand pounds or more of supplies to their claim. So, they had to make 15 to 20 trips up the pass packing 50 to 100 lb loads. Not everyone made it; and, some died.

I hung this in the stairwell of our house, near some other Renoir pictures. My daughter says it looks like she is looking at her when she walks up the stairs. it's called "The Excursionist", she is holding a walking stick. Renoir was an impressionist, I don't think this is an actual person. The finished framed picture arrived and looks better than the online pic - Beautiful!
