1896 US Five Dollar silver Certificate Standard Apron
The 1896 United States Five Dollar Silver Certificate. One of the three silver certificates issued from the ' Educational Series '. The allegorical motif of the design being ' Electricity as the dominant force in the world '. Without question one of the most handsome engravings the US Mint ever produced - simply magnificent. A wide range of Silver Certificates were issued from 1878 through 1964 and the owner of such a note could redeem the item for silver bullion or silver coins. I bought this as a little extra gift for my friend for her suprise bridal shower as we were doing a clay making class so it was to protect her outfit! But it’s so beautiful she is also going to keep it for her kitchen (she loves baking).
