The 1896 United States Five Dollar Silver Certificate. One of the three silver certificates issued from the ' Educational Series '. The allegorical motif of the design being ' Electricity as the dominant force in the world '. Without question one of the most handsome engravings the US Mint ever produced - simply magnificent. A wide range of Silver Certificates were issued from 1878 through 1964 and the owner of such a note could redeem the item for silver bullion or silver coins. This was exactly what was wanted for my piano crazy grandson! He is self taught & is now having lessons by a top teacher and has been asked to play at various venues in the US!
