1858 Everest Survey Map — Modern Fine Art Poster

1858 Everest Survey Map — Modern Fine Art Poster

A clean, modern reinterpretation of Colonel Andrew Scott Waugh’s 1858 survey of Mount Everest — reimagined with minimalist vector precision and soft watercolor calm. The Survey of Everest, 1858 — The Great Trigonometrical Determination A modern fine-art interpretation of Colonel Andrew Scott Waugh’s 1858 Royal Geographical Society map — the first to define and measure the world’s highest mountain. This edition reimagines Waugh’s original triangulation chart through precise vector linework and a subtle watercolor wash, bringing 19th-century cartography into contemporary clarity. The refined header honours the key milestones behind Everest’s discovery: – Radhanath Sikdar’s 29,000 ft calculation of “Peak XV” – Waugh’s 2 ft addition to record 29,002 ft – The naming of “Everest,” honouring Sir George Everest – Triangulation lines drawn across 150 miles south of the Himalaya Beneath the header, the faithfully redrawn survey map traces the historic chain from the Indian plains to the Himalayan front — Simraha, Dolalghat, Phulchowki, and Everest itself — a network of lines that connected the known to the unknown. With its minimalist palette and crisp geometry, this restored print balances archival authenticity with modern design — an elegant statement for collectors, explorers, and those drawn to the beauty of maps and measurement. Redrawn & reinterpreted by themagicclicks 2025 Based on Col. Andrew Scott Waugh’s 1858 Royal Geographical Society map, London.

I hung this in the stairwell of our house, near some other Renoir pictures. My daughter says it looks like she is looking at her when she walks up the stairs. it's called "The Excursionist", she is holding a walking stick. Renoir was an impressionist, I don't think this is an actual person. The finished framed picture arrived and looks better than the online pic - Beautiful!

Absolutely superb Art Deco poster. The colours are vibrant, sympathetic to the era and perfect for use. I framed it and hung above the entrance to my Art Deco inspired lounge room. Stunning! The print is precise, clear and of an excellent standard. It was cleverly packaged so there wasn’t a blemish or crease. Perfect!
