The 11th Armoured Cavalry Regiment "Blackhorse Regiment" is a unit of the Army garrisoned at Fort Irwin, California. The regiment was constituted on February 2, 1901 in the Regular Army as the 11th Cavalry Regiment. The regiment has served in the Philippine–American War, World War II, the Vietnam War, Cold War, Persian Gulf War, and the Iraq War. Types of Armour used by the 11th: M4 Sherman Tank, M48 Patton Tank, M113 Armoured Personnel Carrier, M551 Sheridan Tank, M-2 Bradley Fighting Vehicle, M88 Recovery Vehicle, Heavy Expanded Mobility Tactical Truck, & the M1A1 Abrams Tank.
