The 11th Airborne Division Tribute design honours the valiant "Arctic Angels" of the US military. This airborne unit was established in 1943 and quickly gained popularity in the Philippines during WWII. The Arctic Angels were known on the battlefield for their daring jumps and fierce fighting. Following their victories, they fought alongside Japan's occupation forces, demonstrating their bravery and determination.
The 11th Airborne Division will take over as the name of the US Military Alaska headquarters by 2022. The 1st and 4th Brigade Combat Teams were redesignated as the 11th Airborne Division's 1st and 2nd Infantry Brigade Combat Teams, respectively.
This design honours both the 11th Airborne Division's legacy and the valiant men and women who served there.
