【すみきりかくにちぢみさん】文字紋・角字紋・角紋／隅切り角は”折敷（おしき）”とも言うので、例えば丹羽基二著「姓氏紋章お国めぐり西国編」では「折敷に縮み三文字」としている。縮みの形は波を表している。本図案は同書並びに「紋典」を参考にした。／折敷に三文字紋は三島大明神の紋である。隅切り角とは方形の隅を切った八角形、その中に三の字を入れた紋。むかし、神に供える食器には、柏の葉などのほかに、種々の樹木の枝などを折り敷いて用いたが、のちに扁柏（ひのき）の片木（へぎ）を折って角盆をつくり、やはり折敷といって使用した。さらにその盆の三方に穴のあいた台をつけ（三方といって）いまでも神具に使っている。この三方又は折敷を真上からみると、八角形になって、その中に三島大明神の「三」を入れれば、「隅切角に三」の神紋ができあがる。・・中の文字は縮（ちぢみ）三文字が多いが他の字形もある（丹羽基二著「神紋」）／この呼称は「紋典」によった。「平安紋鑑」では”隅切角に厂（がん）木三木」としている。

This was exactly what was wanted for my piano crazy grandson! He is self taught & is now having lessons by a top teacher and has been asked to play at various venues in the US!
