【きくすい】菊紋。
沼田頼輔著「日本紋章学」では、「菊水紋は菊紋の一種であって、菊と水とを象った紋である」としている。昭和期の紋帳「平安紋鑑」「紋典」等でも、菊水は菊紋に含めているので、ここではこれらに倣い菊紋とした。
／菊水は楠(くすのき)家の紋にて、湊川四條畷兩宮幣社の神紋也、此紋の由来に数説あるも、後醍醐帝より正成(まさしげ)に菊の御紋章を賜りたるも、正成は恐れ多しとして、菊の下半は水に改めて成りたる紋と、大楠氏の人格より解説するを穏当なりとす(福井万次郎著「定紋の研究」)
／菊の精気は延命長寿の効があり、菊水の流れる渓谷の住人は、長寿を保つとする中国古伝説に発想を得て文様化され、紋章に転化。楠木・和田・橋本・甲斐庄氏の家紋。（伊藤幸作編「日本の紋章」）

I bought this as a little extra gift for my friend for her suprise bridal shower as we were doing a clay making class so it was to protect her outfit! But it’s so beautiful she is also going to keep it for her kitchen (she loves baking).
