【きだに　きちじろう】安政５年[1858]１２月２４日～昭和２４年[1949]１月１６日 加賀石川郡粟崎村に木谷作蔵の長男として生まれる。生家は加賀藩時代の豪商木谷藤右衛門家の八代目の分家である。神戸に出て事業家として財を成し、６３歳で故郷に戻り隠棲。自らは質素な暮らしをし、諸学生への援助や社会事業及び教育機関等に対する巨額の寄付をしが、無条件であり何らの見返りも一切求めなかった。 この図案は清水隆久著「木谷吉次郎翁」の木谷藤右衛門家関係主要文書の項に掲載されている「木谷家一門の家紋」を参考に作図(2013/8/8)した。
