徳川葵（五代綱吉）２３蕊

【とくがわあおい（ごだい　つなよし）】江戸幕府の第５代将軍、徳川綱吉の家紋。綱吉はこれの他に２７蕊の葵紋も使用したという。／この図案は沼田頼輔著「日本紋章学」に、徳川家歴代の葵紋の図案が掲載されており、そこには『御服所後藤縫殿助書上御紋控書』所載とある。本図案は、これを参考に作図したものである。(2013/3/14作図)／徳川宗家においても、葵紋の蕊は初めはほとんど一定していなかった。文政年間（１８１８～３０）御服所後藤縫殿助から幕府に書き上げた『御紋控書』によってこれを見ると、家康・秀忠・家光の三代は三十三蕊、家綱は十九蕊と二十三蕊、綱吉は二十三蕊と二十七蕊、家宣は三十一蕊と三十五蕊、（原本は家継を欠いている）吉宗は二十三蕊、家重・家治はともに十三蕊を用いた。このころから将軍家の紋章もまた十三蕊に定められたのか、その後はいずれも十三蕊を用いた。（沼田頼輔著「日本紋章学」P４０７）

This was exactly what was wanted for my piano crazy grandson! He is self taught & is now having lessons by a top teacher and has been asked to play at various venues in the US!
