光る海, Glittering Sea, Hiroshi Yoshida, Woodcut Postcard

Hiroshi Yoshida has made a woodcut that is very serene, of two boats going out to sea to pursue their maritime livelihood. Starting out as the new rdawn bathes the sea and boats in tranquility, all feels secure, peaceful, and a good day for fishing. Maybe the two boats will separate to catch their best haul of fish -- Fish! Crucial to the diet of family, friends and others in their township, which sits looking over the coast. Hopefully enough to also sell to others in their township and bring home the money for other things both family's need in these days. Maybe trade some fresh fish for the rice and the good pickles women make in the town. The shadows cast images in the water in its still frail sunrise, but it will soon be bright and the waves will roll over the sea. and the new and bright light, will be a good day for these fishermen. I look at it and feel "this is a profitable day in a good life.". I is exceptionally good. It is serene and full of promise of a good day. The colors are beautifully done. The printing is well done.
