【ごしちのきり】桐紋／桐紋は菊紋に次いで権威を持っていた。桐紋の中でも特に五七の桐は、鎌倉末期には皇室の紋章とされていたと思われる。皇室から足利氏に下賜され、さらに織田信長、羽柴秀吉にも下賜されたようである。後に、僭用（身の程を越えて使用すること）する者を含めて世に桐紋が氾濫することになる。
