【まるにじょうのじ】字紋／この図案は「平安紋鑑」「紋典」を参考にした。／上文字を紋章に選んだのは、この文字に向上発展の意義があるからであることは勿論だが、この紋章を用いたものの多くが、この文字を名字に用いているものであることを考えると、この紋章は瑞祥的意義の外に、指事的意義も兼ねているといえる。（沼田頼輔著「日本紋章学」）／指事的意義とは、おもに名字にちなんだ紋章であって、紋章の形状を見て、その紋章がどんな名字を用いるものの家紋であるかがわかるものをいう。（同書Ｐ４５）／上（うえ）文字は上に立つという瑞祥的意義と、苗字に上の字を用いた指示的な意義による家紋・・（ふりがな及び漢字は原文通り：高澤等著「家紋の事典」）／「下げ上」に対して「上（あ）げ上（じょう）」ともいう。

This was exactly what was wanted for my piano crazy grandson! He is self taught & is now having lessons by a top teacher and has been asked to play at various venues in the US!
