PLANET H20

As far back as I can remember I have enjoyed sketching and painting and it was at primary school, aged 7, that I won my first art competition based on road safety; the prize was a little plaque made of metal with my name on it and I was as pleased as punch. Back then, my teachers always encouraged me, and tried their hardest to make me understand math. Not a chance :) At the age of 18, my artwork became popular with my local college and I was asked to paint two very large murals on the walls depicting Rock music (Meatloaf, Iron Maiden) and managed after several weeks to see them unveiled. This brought me commissions from friends and the public and included work such as murals and logos on leather jackets, posters and flyers for a rock radio show that I used to run at college. Since those early days I have always painted and with a fascination for the natural world, in particular the sea and oceans and all its life forms. At a recent exhibition, several of my paintings captured the attention of the public and several of them sold instantly, a few of these feature within my gallery here at FM, of which I am proud to be a member. I work mainly in Acrylics on canvas of various sizes. This medium suits the way I work perfectly and although I don't feel that I fit into a particular movement or style, I do enjoy realism and bright vivid colour, constantly trying to achieve this with every new piece I produce.
