Hi erin001 .... these cards definitely print in BLACK with gold lettering. The black background is part of the design and it will fully cover the default paper color. Sorry for the confusion -- you're not alone, a lot of people ask about this. But I assure you, they will print in black. Hope that helps! Thanks so much for choosing this invitation! : )
